Those anxiously awaiting the successfully Kickstarter-funded Starcadia Quest from CMON have something more to look forward to than just the game — IDW Publishing has announced a three-issue comic miniseries by James Roberts, author of Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye and Lost Light.
The mini-series will take readers, along with Starkid and his Freelance Adventuring Crew, deep into the Frontier. According to Roberts, “There’s lots of world-building, lots of emotion, lots of shocks — but, ultimately, the story carries itself forward on a wave of old-fashioned heroics. It’s old-school science fiction with a modern twist, a mash-up of classic space opera tropes and gleefully weird twists and turns. Most of all, it’s fun!”
Furthermore, each issue of Starcadia Quest will include exclusive playable game content as a way for readers of the miniseries to incorporate elements of the comic’s storyline into their tabletop gameplay.
You can learn more about the Starcadia Quest comic miniseries on IDW Publishing’s site.
On May 20th, Modiphius Entertainment announced The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms, a narrative miniatures game designed by Mark Latham (The Walking Dead: All Out War, The Harry Potter Miniatures Adventure Game) which builds upon the core mechanics of Modiphius’ Fallout: Wasteland Warfare, but rewritten and reworked to fit into the Elder Scrolls franchise and universe. Modiphius has planned a release date for the game of Christmas 2019.
The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms will have you and your band of heroes set out on narrative-driven scenarios, ranging from treasure-seeking dungeon delves to Tamriel battles, completing quests and objectives – and enjoying high quality 32mm resin miniatures each with its own custom base (including fan favorites such as Hadvar, Ralof, Yrsarald Thrice-Pierced, Marcurio, Mjoll the Lioness, Ulfric Stormcloak, Galmar Stone-Fist, General Tullius and Lydia).
In the first wave, players will lead their forces of the Stormcloaks or Imperial Legion – comprised of 1-5 heroes and 3-15 troops – to fight for the future of Skyrim in the civil war. This wave of releases will be a two player starter set and reinforcement sets of resin miniatures for the Stormcloaks and Imperial Army, as well as a Dragonborn single player set. Planned future releases include additional races and characters from across the Elder Scrolls franchise.
Leading up to the launch, Modiphius will be releasing promotional miniatures, including the Dragonborn miniature which is available in limited quantities online but will also be available at the UK Games Expo in June and GenCon in August.

Days of Wonder today announced the latest addition to their Ticket to Ride line. Rails & Sails is a stand-alone Ticket to Ride game featuring not only trains, like previous editions, but now also features ships!
The double sided game board features a world map on one side, and the Great Lakes on the other. Both maps feature a new type of route on which only ships may travel. Shipping routes are built on just like you would build train routes in previous iterations, however you have to use the new, coloured ship cards rather than the regular train cards.
At the start of the game players receive their routes and then decide what proportion of ships and trains they start the game with. They can exchange later in the game if they find they need more of another type, but there will be a points penalty for that.
Another new feature is the ability to build a harbour. These are tricky to build, requiring both 2 special train and 2 special ship cards of the same colour but they give great benefits with bonuses for how many routes you have entering each harbour.
The game is expected to be released around August, and you can read the full press release here
