Txarli Factory, a miniatures and game company based in Pamplano, Spain, has launched a new game on Kickstarter called Rising for the Throne. The card and dice game is fantasy-based with dragons, gryphons, and knights depicted, to name just a few. There is an overall Norse mythology-vibe to the cards and they have a watercolor look to them while also coming off as gritty and grounded.
Most of the information about gameplay can be found in the link to the manual while the video gives some insight into the theme and story.
In this land, the six great clans are relentlessly recruiting new warriors for their battles—Choose your clan, collect resources, recruit new troops, and get the victory. Only one clan can win and sit on the great throne of the kingdom.
The collector’s edition comes with chunky, nicely sculpted figureheads for each of the six clans. Check out the video and images of Rising for the Throne over on Kickstarter.
It is the middle of the 5th century AD, and the gods are dying. In parallel to the unrest rotting the foundations of the Roman Empire, pantheons of deities across the globe see their temples profaned and their followers lament. Belief ebbs from the world….The once-mighty gods, now desperately scheming to collect remaining scraps of faith, seek a way to endure the coming Dark Age – an inevitable future pressing through time with the weight of a singularity – and every god must meet these final tests or perish forever to legend.
Victory Point Games has announced their upcoming game Twilight of the Gods: Age of Revelation, a two-player expandable card game. Each player will wield a modifiable 50-card deck, taking on the role of one of the ancient deities from the universal pantheon of mythology. On each turn, players will “draw two cards, acquire resources from other players, and use them to summon Creatures, Schemes, Fortifications, and Intrigues.” A player wins if he or she manages to deplete the other player’s “life”, or deck of cards.
A copy of the game will include 4 pre-constructed, balanced decks, featuring the deities Mars, Hera, Enlil, and the Reader of Portents.
The project is set to fund on Thursday, January 6, 2017. For more information and to support this project, visit the Kickstarter page.
Lost Cog would like to announce their current project to fund a new two-player Viking-themed strategy board game that “pits players in a competitive contest of tactics and supremacy.” The objective of the game is to survive the Jotunn’s Rampage by influencing the Jotunn towards your opponents’ armies and villages.
Players will each control three villages and two Viking armies, and will be using their armies to protect their own villages while attacking their opponents’ villages. As they do this, the Rampaging Jotunn is the real threat as he moves across the island destroying everything he touches.
The game is easy to learn, but with deep strategy, and has high replay value due to its modular board that changes with each play. The game has been in development for 6 years, and has received extensive play testing.
A copy of the game includes:
- 1 Center Hex
- 2 Defensive Line hexes
- 2 Dice
- 1 Jotunn Marker and Stand
- 2 Blue and 2 Red Viking Markers and Stands
- 6 Wooden Long Houses, 3 in each player color
- 2 Terrain Cards
- 6 Movement Cards, 3 in each player color
- 73 Rampaging Jotunn Cards
- 12 Unique Land Tiles

Ahead of a February release, Osprey Games has made available new photographs of components for Odin’s Ravens. From the product page on Osprey’s website:
Every morning Odin sends his ravens, Huginn and Muninn, across the entire world to bring back news of what life is like on Earth. Naturally, after thousands of years, they’ve gotten a little competitive. Race through the landscape in opposite directions to be the first to return to Odin. Focus on speed, or enlist the help of the trickster god Loki to create shortcuts and hinder your opponent. Can you be certain Loki’s changes won’t help your opponent instead? There’s only one way to find out!
The photographs provided show a vibrant array of cards with new art by Johan Egerkrans as well as the two raven player pieces. If these images entice you to explore the world of Norse mythology from a bird’s eye view, watch for this to release in February.
The following is a press release from Game-o-gami:
Game-O-Gami just launched a Kickstarter project to bring 2 new factions, the Egyptian and Celtic pantheons, to “Immortal” – the strategy game of warring mythologies:
The Egyptian and Celtic pantheons will join the Norse, Greek, Japanese, and Native American pantheons, for a total of 6 playable factions in Immortal. This new Kickstarter project functions as a stretch goal for the previous Immortal Kickstarter project which funded in July. So if the new Kickstarter successfully funds, then all of the new content (50% more cards, artwork, and special abilities) will be automatically added to every copy of the game when it releases next year.
In addition to upgrading the game for everyone, this Kickstarter project is also raising funds to produce a deck of custom Playing Cards, featuring the amazing artwork from the game. Each of the 54 cards in the Playing Cards deck (4 suits + 2 Jokers) will have a unique illustration of a god, goddess, hero, or monster from Norse, Greek, Japanese, or Egyptian mythology.
This is a short 16-day Kickstarter campaign, running until October 8th.

Start-up company Demigod Games from Australia just launched their tabletop miniatures games Conquest of the Gods on Kickstarter.
Conquest of the Gods is a game where history meets mythology. Our alternate history setting is brought to life in a 31mm scale table top wargame. Conquest of the Gods has been designed to be fully scalable, allowing a group of players to play small skirmish games with a handful of miniatures right up to mass battles where two players pit armies containing hundreds of models against each other.
Backers can choose from various starter sets representing the historical and fantastic characters from different mythologies around the world. Each starter set includes one 70mm mythological figure, as well as one 31mm command figure, god figure, and various troop figures.
All miniatures will be supplied unpainted and will require assembly. They will be supplied with laser cut timber bases . Miniatures will be made of high quality white metal, resin, or a combination of the two.
The initial production run will include armies based on ancient Greek, Norse, Japanese, and Egyptian mythologies. Call down the god of thunder and command Thor and his Norsemen against Ares, the Greek god of war, and his hoplites. Pit Japanese samurai and their demon Oni against a swarm of Egyptian flesh-eating scarabs and the god Horus. Starter sets include all the miniatures needed to field a complete army from each culture for skirmishes, but players are free to expand their armies to escalate the scale of battle.
Each starter set also includes a mini version of the rule book and the stats cards for each model. A hardcover production version of the rulebook will be available pending stretch goals. Click here to read the current Alpha version of the rules. Custom dice and additional command cards are also available as add-on purchases.
