On May 20th, Modiphius Entertainment announced The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms, a narrative miniatures game designed by Mark Latham (The Walking Dead: All Out War, The Harry Potter Miniatures Adventure Game) which builds upon the core mechanics of Modiphius’ Fallout: Wasteland Warfare, but rewritten and reworked to fit into the Elder Scrolls franchise and universe. Modiphius has planned a release date for the game of Christmas 2019.

The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms will have you and your band of heroes set out on narrative-driven scenarios, ranging from treasure-seeking dungeon delves to Tamriel battles, completing quests and objectives – and enjoying high quality 32mm resin miniatures each with its own custom base (including fan favorites such as Hadvar, Ralof, Yrsarald Thrice-Pierced, Marcurio, Mjoll the Lioness, Ulfric Stormcloak, Galmar Stone-Fist, General Tullius and Lydia).

In the first wave, players will lead their forces of the Stormcloaks or Imperial Legion – comprised of 1-5 heroes and 3-15 troops – to fight for the future of Skyrim in the civil war. This wave of releases will be a two player starter set and reinforcement sets of resin miniatures for the Stormcloaks and Imperial Army, as well as a Dragonborn single player set. Planned future releases include additional races and characters from across the Elder Scrolls franchise.

Leading up to the launch, Modiphius will be releasing promotional miniatures, including the Dragonborn miniature which is available in limited quantities online but will also be available at the UK Games Expo in June and GenCon in August.

Modiphius Entertainment are running a Kickstarter project to fund Kung Fu Panda The Board Game. It’s a co-operative game where 2-4 players must defeat Tai Lung, and other villains from the Kung Fu Panda movies, in a certain time limit. The game supports players aged 8+, and plays in 10-30 minutes.

“The game uses the Furious Action Dice which show various faces: a Kick, a Punch, two Moves, a Chi and a Claw. Players frantically roll four dice to get different combos to move around the board, attack enemies, and complete exciting objectives. The game features a unique mechanic, if you roll Claws on the dice, you move around the Dial of Destiny triggering enemies to spawn and attack!”  [source]

Players need to face the different challenges such as Ox Grunts, Wolf Slashers & Spearmen, and the Wolf Boss. Finally, they will face Tai Lung himself.

Kung Fu Panda The Board Game is designed by Kristian Amundsen Østby (known for Escape from the Temple), Nick Fallon (known for Airfix Battles), James Sheahan (known for Fallout: Wasteland Warfare), and Rob Harris.

The base game will cost about $33 (excluding shipping) while a collector’s edition will set you back $80, which includes the Masters miniatures and player boards and additional stretch goals. The Kickstarter campaign ends Sunday, July 15th, 2018, with delivery estimated to be March 2019.

Modiphius Entertainment has announced plans to release both a Collector’s Edition and a Limited Edition of the book Rendezvous with Randomness. These two elaborate art books feature extremely high quality images of dice. The limited edition photobook will only have 200 copies produced.

Rendezvous with Randomness is a coffee table style book for impressing your RPG guests. Måns Danneman has taken incredible photographs of dice to fill out this volume. Images feature effects and situations you might never want to put your own dice into. Bio Hazard Dice are dropped into frying pans of oil to melt on impact while other dice are featured in equally appropriate situtations.

Modiphius Entertainment has also announced plans to release Freeway Warrior 1 – Highway Holocaust, a choose-your-own-adventure-gamebook from British Lone Wolf game designer Joe Dever. Dever was the first British winner of the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Championship in 1982.

That day has arrived, but it means the battle for your survival has only just begun. As Cal Phoenix, the Freeway Warrior and protector of Dallas Colony One, you need to defend your colony from a the gang of H.A.V.O.C. clansmen led by  psychotic Mad Dog Michigan. Make critical choices to defend yourself and those who rely on you in this choose your own adventure.

The Kickstarter for the reprint of the popular Siege of the Citadel game successfully completed, and with it comes a completion of a deal as well.  Modiphius has partnered with Fantasy Flight Games to co-publish the game after it has funded on Kickstarter.  This new partnership will allow Modiphius access to FFG’s extensive knowledge of manufacturing miniature games as well as their distribution and localization infrastructure.  This means a higher quality game and a wider and more broad release of the game once it comes time for fulfillment, which we can all appreciate that.  You can read the full press release about the partnership below.

Thunderbirds, a cooperative game designed by the talented Matt Leacock, is getting another expansion in November, and this time it’s evil.  The new expansion is simply titled, Thunderbirds: The Hood, after the main villain of the series and game.  For this expansion it only adds a new character to play as, The Hood, meaning now you can play a one vs. many game of Thunderbirds.  Everything you need to take on the role of this heinous villain is included along with his own sub, plane, and lair models.  Can you best the villain when he is no longer being played by the game?  Find out when this expansion hits store shelves in November.

Modiphius Entertainment, publisher of games like Thunderbirds and the Mutant Chronicles RPG, are making good on using the Star Trek license by releasing a new RPG based in the universe.  At the start you will only be able to play Starfleet characters, but you will have access to the whole of Star Trek lore from the original series to Enterprise and all the movies.  This new RPG will also use the same 2d20 system that Modiphius’ other RPGs use and will be designed by Jason Little, one of the designers behind the X-Wing Miniatures game.  And speaking of miniatures, the RPG will also include the launching of a new line of Star Trek miniature figures.  This is of importance because no miniature line for Star Trek has been produced in 17 years, and now you will be able to obtain iconic characters like Sisko, Picard, Kirk, and Spock.  All of this is slated for release in the summer of 2017.  You can sign up for playtesting at major conventions, or sign up for alerts through Modiphius’ website.  Until then, live long and prosper.

Airfix has been a mainstay in the plastic modeling community for many years, and one aspect of their catalog is the 1/72 scale model soldiers.  For a long time they have just been fun toys to play with or for use in some kind of display, now you can play an entire war game with them.  Modiphius Entertainment has announced they are taking pre-orders for their eagerly anticipated Airfix Battles Introductory Set.  This aims to take all of the existing Airfix models for WWII and incorporate them into a war game that plays between 30 and 60 minutes.  The game will come with cards for all the different vehicles and soldiers so you can build your army how you like as well as instructions for setting up various scenarios in WWII and the maps to go with them.  Playing the game is easy as it uses a card system similar to Memoir ’44 where you play cards to order troop movements and attacks.

Look for this to come to stores in May, but if you pre-order ahead of time you will get a bonus reinforcement pack worth $14 for free.  You can head over to Modiphius’ site to order the set.
