The Doomtown Reloaded ECG (expandable card game since LCG is copyrighted) is coming to an end from AEG and the rights of the game will be going back to the original owners, Pinnacle Entertainment Group. While there are still a few more expansions to be released for the game, once the current arc within the game is finished, there won’t be any more. Support for the game in stores and through organized play will wind down until it stops at the end of the year. Will this game continue on past this arc? That is unknown as AEG is leaving the end open for possible new expansions, but as of right now there aren’t any plans to continue the game once it goes back to Pinnacle. You can read the full article on AEG’s website.
Two new ready-to-play Ashes decks for Ashes: Rise of the Phoenixborn are available for pre-order from Plaid Hat Games. Each deck is available separately and is a mono deck using a single color of dice. These decks may be mixed with the base set and previous expansions for custom deck construction. Both expansions will be available at Gen Con on a limited basis, and are expected to have their regular release soon after. If you’re planning on picking this up at Gen Con, I’d make the Plaid Hat Games booth an early stop because this could sell out very quickly.
The Roaring Rose deck, with new Pheonixborn Leo Sunshadow contains 42 cards and requires 10 Charms (pink) dice to play. Leo’s special ability allows him to summon a Glow Finch as a side action. Coming in July from AEG is the next expansion for the Doontown Reloaded LCG called A Grand Entrance, so they have decided to do a couple previews to give you a thematic feel to the expansion. Right now they have two previews up which tell a short story based on two of the 21 new cards in the set, Lighting the Fuse, and Bacillus Pasteuria. The stories are a short read and offer some thematic flair to the card game, and of course you can just look at the card itself if you aren’t into all that. You can see the Lighting the Fuse story here, and the Bacillus Pasteuria story here, and you can pre-order the expansion directly from the AEG site.
Last year Fantasy Flight Games rebooted the Game of Thrones LCG with a 2nd edition, and today they have announced the second deluxe expansion for the game, Lions of Casterly Rock. This expansion will mainly focus on the Lannister family and will expand their forces, from the announcement;
Within this expansion, the Lannisters explore new themes, launching an ambush with their Clansman allies, redoubling their focus on the intrigue challenge, and sending out marauders to pillage the lands of Westeros. You’ll also find new versions of the most iconic Lannister characters, including Tywin Lannister, Cersei Lannister, Ser Jaime Lannister, and Tyrion Lannister.
You can check out the full preview on FFG’s site and look forward to the release of the expansion in quarter 3 of 2016.
Fantasy Flight Games’ latest preview article concerning Star Wars: The Card Game shows us a glimpse of the Rebel Alliance Objective Set from the Galactic Ambitions expansion.
In the war against the galaxy-spanning Galactic Empire, the Rebel Alliance is unquestionably outgunned. Their resources, fleets, and recruitment all dwindle in comparison to the might of the Imperial military machine. Yet against all odds, the Rebellion has won victories—by striking quickly and fading away, by sabotaging Imperial emplacements, and by following the commands of some of the galaxy’s greatest tacticians.
The new Galactic Ambitions expansion offers five new objective sets for both the Sith Lords and the Rebel Alliance and offer plenty of new strategies. The other four affiliations in the game each receive a single new objective set to supplement their own decks. The article Rogue Squadron, Reporting In posted on FFG’s website offers a detailed look at one of the Rebel objective sets from this new expansion.
The Alliance’s Elite is the objective set for this expansion, and is centered around the elite Rebel starfighter team Rogue Squadron and its pilots. Cards such as Rogue Squadron, Alliance X-Wing, and Corellian Slip present new abilities and tactics focused on these types of cards from the game.
For more details on this new expansion for Star Wars: The Card Game, read the full preview article on FFG’s website.
AEG has announced two new expansions and one new game coming out in the month of May. First is the next expansion pack for the LCG Doomtown Reloaded, THE CURTAIN RISES, this expansion will add 84 new cards to the game, 4 copies of the 21 new types, and will arrive on store shelves May 23rd. You can check out the game website for more info and some preview images of the cards.
Next is the second expansion for the shufflebuilding game Epic PVP, appropriately named Epic PVP Expansion 2. This expansion will add Halflings, Cat Folk, Clerics and Dark Knights to the mix and give you even more options for race and class combinations. Look for this expansion to hit store shelves on May 16th.
Last is a new game coming from AEG called Dice Heist. Dice Heist is a thieving dice game where each player will play as a thief trying to rob one of four different museums, with each museum having a different level of difficulty. On your turn you will reveal an exhibit card that gets added to a specific museum, then you choose to either attempt a heist or recruit a sidekick to help you. If you attempt a heist you roll your thief die and as many of your collected sidekick dice as you want, if any of your dice show a value higher than the security for that museum, you succeed and take everything there. If all your dice show lower than the security value then you fail and take all your dice back. This will keep going around until you run out of items to steal, at which point you count up points, not monetary value, and whoever has the most points wins. You can check out the rulebook on the AEG site and look for the game on store shelves May 23rd.
The designers of Legendary Encounters Ben Cichoski and Danny Mandel have designed a new game that combines an expandable card game with a collectible toy: H.E.A.D. Hunters. The official press release for this game describes the gameplay in this way:
In this tabletop game for two or more players, each player controls his or her very own Hero of Every Age & Dimension (H.E.A.D.) Hunter. Each toy features its own deck of cards, position platforms, measuring string and combat dice to attack and defend against other Hunters as it moves around the table for position and opportunity. When the game is over, all the components fit back inside the head while the toy sits patiently (and attractively) on your shelf, waiting for its next opponent.
In 2007, Gut Shot Games created the idea of an expandable card game in the head of a toy, but the initial game needed work, and either the game itself was not compelling enough or the timing was not right. When the idea was presented to Cichoski and Mandel, they were enthusiastic about the idea. “The concept is so unique that we wanted to match that innovation in the game play,” according to Cichoski. “The game fuses the best of combat card games and miniatures games for an entirely fresh take on a tabletop game. It’s truly aH.E.A.D. of its time!”
Gut Shot Games anticipated the game to be a very innovative gaming experience. Some of the highlights of H.E.A.D. Hunters are:
- Heroes of Every Age & Dimension! Play as an old Norse Viking, a Robot Assassin, a 19th century pugilist or another of the 10 best Hunters across time and space.
- Customizable Decks! Mix and match cards from other H.E.A.D. Hunters to customize your deck to match your own play style.
- Position Yourself for Advantage! As you are up against the most notorious Heroes of the past or future, where you attack from is as important as what you attack with.
- Create Infinite Battlefields! Each character has unique starting terrain and buildings that can be placed in a multitude of positions and layouts to create unlimited fields of battle.
- Play With Your Toys! Instead of a box where game parts are stashed away, everything you need to play H.E.A.D. Hunters is stored inside the toy. And when you’re not playing, you have a cool display piece to show off.
Gut Shot Games will be launching a Kickstarter project for H.E.A.D. Hunters in the fall of 2016.

This deluxe expansion focuses on House Stark, as well as additional plots and allies for various factions.
A Game of Thrones LCG: No Middle Ground

Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys Targaryen rides across the Dothraki sea to Vaes Dothrak with a massive khalasar and her husband, Khal Drogo. The Great Houses stir restlessly across Westeros, watching and plotting their own bids for power. From the sands of Dorne to the icy forests beyond the Wall, tension grows with every passing day.
This fourth chapter pack in the Westerns cycle offers five new plots that follow the events in the first book in A Song of Ice and Fire–three faction-specific plots, and two neutral.
Lord of the Rings LCG: The Thing in the Depths
Having finally caught the Stormcaller after a harrowing pursuit across troubled seas, several of Middle-earth’s heroes prepare to board the Corsair ship in The Thing in the Depths, the second Adventure Pack in the Dream-chaser cycle for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game. Their efforts to reclaim the Númenorean artifact the Corsairs had stolen erupt into fierce battles that quickly spiral into nightmare when the waters beneath the Stormcaller begin to churn and massive, tentacled arms erupt from the sea to grapple the ship and the sailors aboard it!
This expansion pack for the Lord of the Rings LCG offers sixty new cards, including a new Spirit hero and new allies for each of the four spheres.
Elder Sign: Omens of Ice
Deep in the Alaskan wilderness Ancient Ones are awakening whose diabolical forces cannot be fought within the safe confines of the Arkham Museum. You must brave the Tundra, solve the mysteries of native Inuit traditions, and make the treacherous ascent up the mountains of the Alaska Range. There, wild animals and monsters are far from the only dangers you’ll encounter, for frostbite and starvation are among the Ancient Ones’ deadliest weapons.
In this expansion for the cooperative dice game Elder Sign, players will receive a complete deck of sixty Alaskan Adventure cards and a new deck of Mythos cards. For the first time in this game, the season will matter as much as the time of day. This expansion also offers eight additional adventurers, as well as new allies, items, and spells.
Talisman: The Cataclysm
Decades ago an apocalypse destroyed the world, wrecking its cities, ravaging the land, and devastating the population. Now, after more than a generation, a new age dawns with The Cataclysm, an expansion for Talisman Revised 4th Edition. People are returning to establish settlements, nature is evolving in bizarre, unprecedented ways, and traces of the former civilization can be found everywhere. This is a time of chaos and possibility, of challenges and heroism.
FFG is proud to announce a new expansion for the classic game Talisman, that takes place one generation after a terrible apocalypse has devastated the land. A new center board opens up into an apocalyptic realm for players’ exploration.
Warhammer 40,000: Conquest LCG: What Lurks Below
The planet of Sacaellum is torn asunder by warring factions. The Imperial Guard battle Dark Eldar raiders, Tyranid Genestealers ambush an Ork warband, and the warriors of Khorne battle any who stand in their bloody path. Which faction will you support in its battle for victory?
“What Lurks Below is the fourth pack in the Planetfall cycle, bringing another faction to bear on the fight for Sacaellum. Here, you’ll find cards that support the main themes of the cycle by bringing new significance to the planet type symbols and inviting you to fight for your faction’s unique goals.”
