King Arthur

Today Restoration Games gave what is arguably their biggest announcement yet. Unmatched is the restoration of Star Wars: Epic Duels, whose design became the basis of Heroscape. That’s not the only thing that makes this announcement so big, however, as Unmatched isn’t just one game – it will be a line of products featuring a variety of themes and intellectual properties. It’s such an undertaking, in fact, that Restoration Games isn’t doing this alone; They are collaborating with Mondo Games, the publishers behind The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31, who will be bringing their extended partnerships to bear.

“Unmatched pits two or four players against each other, with each player taking the role of their own hero. Each hero is represented by a unique ability and a custom deck of action cards, and each set comes with a double-sided board with different battlefields. The first two sets in the line are Battle of Legends, Vol. 1 and the eponymous Robin Hood vs. Big Foot. The Battle of Legends set includes King Arthur, Alice, Medusa, and Sinbad. Heroes from any set can be played against each other, making for surprising and exciting matchups and tons of replayability.”

These first sets will debut at Gen Con this year, but that’s far from all of it. There will be a Bruce Lee limited edition pack and a Buffy the Vampire Slayer set expected to release later this year as well. This is exactly the kind of thing fans have been clamoring for since Restoration Games started taking requests, and it’s fun to see it come alive at last and with so many cool characters to kick it all off. Unfortunately this one article alone won’t do it all justice, so to learn more about Unmatched be sure to visit Restoration Games’ website for further reading and updates.

Wizkids has announced that their newest game, Lancelot, originally published in 2017,  is finally available to North American customers.

Licensed from Ergo Ludo Editions, Lancelot is a game that takes place in the world of King Arthur, where players are trying to amass more virtue points than any of the other players.

“In the Court of King Arthur, you are the Knights that prove their individual valor by performing heroic deeds, setting out on the quest for the Grail, and obtaining the Knightly Virtues…The goal? To be elected First Knight – Lancelot – he who will steal the heart of Queen Guinevere.”

Players move around the board, visiting certain locations to gain items or complete quests that will help them gain virtue. Each time around the board is one round, with the game ending after seven rounds.

You can move around the board at your own pace, but keep in mind that you are all racing for points, so don’t dawdle too much.

The winner of the game will be called Lancelot, with all the benefits that entails.

Those who have been anxiously awaiting this game in North America can finally pick it up without importing it.

Wizkids games has announced plans for an October release of their new Lancelot game.

Attempting to prove their worth in the Court of King Arthur, players take on the roles of the Knights of the Round Table and perform heroic deeds, quest for the Grail and obtain various Knightly Virtues all with the goal to be elected First Knight – Lancelot. Eventually as Lancelot you might even steal the heart of Queen Guinevere!

Undeterred by the recent global flop of a movie that was King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Wizkids will have you traveling to the land of ancient Britain to defeat enemy knights. Success when meeting the Lady of the Lake and she will gift you with the legendary Excalibur. Even with Excalibur in your hands and Merlin at your side, your enemy Morgana will still be a fearsome foe.

Though little information is out, we know you move pieces at your own pace but falling behind will have others grabbing the resources necessary to be successful in the game.

Contents:

  • 90 Round Tokens
  • 16 Tiles
  • 1 Excalibur
  • 85 Cards
  • 16 Stickers
  • Wooden Cylinders
  • Wooden Discs
  • Rule Book
