Jonathan Gilmour

For those familiar with Mint Works and Mint Delivery, Five24 Labs has come out with a new game to add to the series called Mint Cooperative, designed by Jonathan Gilmour and Brian Lewis.

This is a 1-4 player cooperative game that comes packaged in a a replica of a mint tin. Players will take on the role of heroes attempting to defeat the villain they choose to face for that game. Mint Cooperative is a dice-rolling game where players will have difficult choices to make in terms of where to mitigate damage. The villain wins if Regional Panic reaches above the threshold they can withstand. However, the heroes win if the players can survive enough Mayhem before Regional Panic ensues.

If you like 3D puzzles, Mental Blocks by Pandasaurus Games is just for you. Designed by newcomer Micah Sawyer and Jonathan Gilmour (Dead of Winter, Dinosaur Island), Mental Blocks allows players to stack oversized foam blocks to complete a 3D puzzle. The challenge is that each player can only see one perspective of the design – and there’s a time limit.

Mental Blocks is fast, frantic fun, with 60 puzzles in the box. The challenges include 30 Family mode and 30 Challenge mode puzzles that all ramp in difficulty. During some games, players will also need to deal with extra challenging rules, like no talking or not touching certain color blocks. If you’re really into total chaos, you can even add a traitor to the mix!

You can try out Mental Blocks and Pandasaurus Games’ other upcoming titles at  GAMA, booth #235

dead of winter pieces

As reported by Plaid Hat Games (PHG), Dead of Winter: A Crossroads Game will be arriving to those that pre-ordered it very, very soon!  In addition, the Crossroad Card Creator is now live on Plaid Hat’s website.  Crossroad cards are a key element of their new game.  At the start of every player’s turn, the previous player will draw a Crossroads card.  On this card are some conditions and at any time during the active player’s turn, if these conditions are met, the game pauses and some choices have to be made.  The creator was mentioned a few times on PHG’s podcast during the development of Dead of Winter and it is very exciting that players will have such fantastic customization to this and future Crossroads games.

Dead of Winter: A Crossroads Game is designed by Jonathan Gilmour and Isaac Vega.  This game of survival features co-operative play with a possible betrayer however, each player will have their own agenda.
