You’ve opened the Cave of Treasures, now can you escape with the spoils?

Remember ol’ Ali Baba?  Let’s see now, what were those magic words to open that cave door?  You’d better remember them and escape, for thieves are approaching…

This summer, IDW Games will be bringing a brand new card game from celebrated designer and multi-Spiel des Jahres winner Antoine Bauza (7 Wonders, Takenoko, Tokaido, Rampage, Hanabi), Open Sesame.  In Open Sesame, players take on the alternating roles of Ali Baba, treasure-hunter, and one of the 40 thieves who are guarding their precious Cave of Treasures.  When playing the role of Ali Baba, you will be working to steal as much as possible from the cave and flee while you can, lest you get too greedy and get trapped.  As a bandit from the notorious band of 40 thieves, your goal is to observe carefully what Ali Baba is stealing and recite exactly what he is attempting to escape the cave with.

Open Sesame is a press-your-luck and high-stakes memorization card game for 3-5 players ages 10 and up and plays in about 20 minutes.  The announced due date for placing orders is April 10, 2015 and shipping date is June 15, 2015.  The game is scheduled to be available in stores on June 30, 2015.

IDW Games will be showing Open Sesame at the GAMA Trade Show on March 16-20, 2015.

All the most powerful families in Edo are trying to curry favor with the new Shogun, and you must ensure that your clan will prove indispensable to him. Work from the shadows to acquire information about rival clans, kidnap those who might oppose your ascent and assassinate those who prove too great a threat. Beware, only your cunning will prevent your adversaries from doing the same to you. Find glory and honor in the eyes of this new Shogun – or failing that, end his rule by any means necessary.

Diamonsters (Coming November)

In Diamonsters, each player begins the game with the same hand, and the first player to collect three identical monsters or five diamonds wins. But it’s not so simple, some monsters are more valuable than others, and some will eat the diamonds you fought so hard for!

machi koro

San Diego, CA (May XX, 2014) – Today, IDW Games announced a small-box expansion for the hotly anticipated Machi Koro card game. Machi Koro: The Harbor Expansion will include 10 new establishments, one new starting establishment, two new landmarks (82 cards total), and the ability to play Machi Koro with up to five players. Machi Koro will hit shelves this July, and the expansion will follow before Christmas.

“There are so many exciting elements to this expansion,” said Pandasaurus Director of Marketing, Molly Wardlaw. “Get ready for more zany properties, more players, and even more fun!”

This is the second major announcement from IDW Games this month regarding Machi Koro. At the beginning of May, it was announced that five copies of an exclusive pre-order card would be included in each game headed to the Hobby Market. With today’s expansion announcement, it becomes clear that the exclusive pre-order card will be compatible with the new Machi Koro: Harbor Expansion. The expansion will offer players new game mechanics and a variant play option that changes which resources are available for purchase at the start of each game.

“Machi Koro has been a focal point for IDW Games,” said IDW Director of Business Development, Jerry Bennington. “There’s been nothing but positive response regarding us bringing the game to the U.S. and we hope this expansion announcement shows our commitment to supporting Machi Koro with everything we can do.”

This first expansion not only adds the ability to bring a fifth player to the table for your Machi Koro sessions, there’s also big changes to the strategy as players will be working to complete six landmarks instead of the four required to win the base game. Further changing the landscape of Machi Koro, the expansion changes how each game begins, as only 10 types of establishments will hit the table for any one game. This move should add variety to an already incredibly re-playable game.

The pre-order exclusive card offer ends on May 28th, so fans are encouraged to head to their friendly local game shop and put their order in today!
