Stone Blade Entertainment has announced that they will be releasing a digital version of their hit deck building game Shards of Infinity in collaboration with Temple Gates Games, makers of the digital versions of Race for the Galaxy  Shards of Infinity designed by Gary Arant and Justin Gary was Stone Blade’s followup to their immensely popular card game Ascension (2010), and hit the blooming deck-building market by storm. Shards has been positively regarded as an improvement on the standard head to head deck building game. In Shards, players fight head to head, trying to deplete their opponents health while improving their own Mastery. Mastery makes a players’ cards more powerful, and at 30 Mastery a player can employ their Infinity Shard, immediately defeating their opponent. Ascension is a deck-building game designed by Magic: The Gathering Pro Tour champions Justin Gary, Rob Dougherty, and Brian Kibler, with artwork by Eric Sabee. Players spend Runes to acquire more powerful cards for their deck, then buy powerful upgrades or defeat monsters for victory points. The upcoming expansion, Ascension: Deliverance, is designed by Gary Arant and Justin Gary and features art by Rod MendezAaron Nakahara, and Eric Sabee. It plays 1-4 players, aged 13+, and plays in roughly 30 mins.

Players start the game with an additional card, the Dreamseeker, which grants them additional Insight over the course of the game. There are also Phantasm cards, new to Ascension, which allows players to gain their effects while they’re in the center row. Dreambind Monsters can also be acquired, once they’re defeated, by paying their Insight cost. Transform cards also make a return in this set where paying the Transform cost makes the card an even more powerful version of itself.

Ascension: Deliverance will be released November 15th, 2018.

Ultra Pro and Stone Blade Entertainment have announced the upcoming Shards of Infinity: Relics of the Future expansion to the recently released Shards of Infinity deck-building game.

Original designers Gary Arant and Justin Gary, along with artist Aaron Nakara are returning the Shards of Infinity world and this time they brought powerful shards of the Infinity Engine with them.

When the Infinity Engine was destroyed, reality warping shards rained down from the sky, wiping out civilization and forever altering the world. From the ashes, rose the descendants of mankind. You are a leader among these peoples, a mighty warrior, forever bound to a powerful shard.

It’s time to make a choice: Is it your fate to lead your people to victory or will you become the relic of some forgotten future? Choose wisely.

Shards of Infinity: Relics of the Future is the first expansion to the 2018 deck-building game Shards of Infinity. This first expansion introduces relic cards into the game. Once a player reaches 10 Mastery points they can select one of their two relics, with the other being lost in time.

The expansion will also introduce a new set of cards that are playable by any character, but that can be matched with a particular faction leader for additional effects.

The expansion will also include rules for three new game variants.

  • In the three player game “Bloodbath,” any damage is dealt to both opponents instead of just one.
  • In 2 versus 2 Team Attack players will join forces to take on their opponents.
  • The “Nemesis” solo version of the game will pit individual players against the game.

Shards of Infinity: Relics of the Future will have 2-4 players deckbuilding for ~30 minutes.

Shards of Infinity

The original Shards of Infinity game was released earlier in 2018.

One-hundred years ago, The Infinity Engine was shattered and its reality-bending shards have destroyed most of the world. Now, it falls upon you to gather your forces, defeat your adversaries, and rebuild the Infinity Engine! Will you survive?

Players attempt to reduce their opponents health to zero while at the same time rebuilding the Infinity Engine.

Players start the game with fifty health and zero mastery points. Players can spend one gem each turn to gain a mastery point, which will increase the power of card abilities and eventually (with 30 mastery points) activate the Infinity Shard, which instantly defeats your opponent.

Following traditional deck-building mechanics, each player starts the game with a basic deck of cards. Players can acquire new cards from the center display of six cards, adding these new cards to their deck for future use or occasionally to their hands for immediate use.

On June 29, Stone Blade Entertainment announced a new deck-building game in their Ascension line of games, Ascension X: War of Shadows, is available for pre-order.  If you pre-order now, you’d receive a free promo card, Chaos Rider.

Ascension X: War of Shadows is the 10th installment in the award-winning franchise, designed by Gary Arant & Justin Gary.  As a standalone game, it can play from 1 to 4 players, or it can be used in combination with other Ascension releases to play up to 6 players.

The War of Shadows continues the struggle for control of New Vigil.  To battle against the coming darkness, new Heroes and Constructs of increased power and dual-cost to bolster the forces of Dark and Light.  Mirroring the difference between the Dark and Light forces, cards will now also have differing powers depending on whether it’s daytime or nighttime.
