Steve Jackson has release a “soft” announcement that they will be releasing a 6th edition of Ogre that will be set in the Ogre Designer’s Edition Scale. It is important to note that this edition will include only the Ogre map (which is the same as the one in the Ogre Designer’s Edition), Ogre rules, and a large collection of counters for the game.

Stronghold Games and eggertspiele have just announced a strategic partnership whereby Stronghold Games will co-publish all future eggertspiele tiles in English for the North American market, effective immediately.
This is not the first time that these two companies have collaborated on a project; the most recent evidence of this is in Stronghold’s recently released Porta Nigra, as well as Time ‘N’ Space (2013), and Milestones (2012). Stronghold Games is currently in the process of releasing the award-winning Village line of games, also from eggertspiele. These games will be released between April and June of 2016.
“We are very excited by this Strategic Partnership with the world-renowned company, eggertspiele,” said Stephen Buonocore, President of Stronghold Games. “This strengthens our commitment to bringing great games from Europe to North America and the rest of the world.”
“Joining with Stronghold Games as our exclusive North American partner for English was an obvious extension of the existing relationship between the companies,” said Peter Eggert, President of eggertspiele. “Stronghold Games has been a great partner in the past, and their growth over the past several years will strengthen both brands around the world.”
Through this new partnership, Stronghold Games and eggertspiele will begin with three new titles: Animals On Board, JÓRVÍK, and Great Western Trail.
Below are the official press release descriptions of these three upcoming games for 2016:
- Animals On Board:
You have an ark, and you want to take as many animals on board as you can. Unfortunately, a guy named Noah claims all animal pairs for himself. However, you can gather a herd of three, four or five animals of a species, which is even more valuable! But forming a herd usually requires you to get a pair first… When the arks depart, will you have the most valuable Animals On Board? Animals On Board is an easy to learn, fast game with lots of tricky decisions. Street date: April 2016.
- JÓRVÍK – designed by Stefan Feld:
You are a Viking Jarl gaining prestige by trading goods, holding big feasts, funding pillages, commissioning craftsmen, and hiring soldiers to defend the city against recurring invasions. JÓRVÍK is a reimagining of Die Speicherstadt (2010), where players utilize a simple yet brilliant worker placement and bidding mechanism to build up their trading empires. JÓRVÍK will include two versions: A streamlined base game and an advanced game, which adds into the game the rare expansion formerly called Kaispeicher. Street date: Q4’2016
- Great Western Trail:
You are rival cattlemen in 19th century America, herding cattle in a circular trail from the south of Texas to Houston, where your cattle are then shipped by train earning you money and victory points. Hire capable staff, such as cowboys to improve your herd, craftsmen to build your cattle posts, or engineers for the railroad line. Upon each arrival in Houston, have your most valuable cattle in tow. The winner will be the player who manages his herd best, and exhibits good timing in mastering the opportunities and pitfalls of the circular trail. Street date: Q4’2016
More information on these two companies and the announced partnership can be found on the Stronghold Games and eggertspiele websites.

A Game of Thrones LCG: Wolves of the North 2nd Edition
Long ago, before the dragons came, the Kings of Winter ruled from Winterfell. Perhaps it’s past time those days returned. Call upon the iconic characters and unyielding strength of House Stark, and enter a new era of the war for Westeros!
This deluxe expansion focuses on House Stark, as well as additional plots and allies for various factions.
A Game of Thrones LCG: No Middle Ground
In the aftermath of the Tourney for the Hand, Eddard Stark searches for answers to the questions that caused Jon Arryn’s death. Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys Targaryen rides across the Dothraki sea to Vaes Dothrak with a massive khalasar and her husband, Khal Drogo. The Great Houses stir restlessly across Westeros, watching and plotting their own bids for power. From the sands of Dorne to the icy forests beyond the Wall, tension grows with every passing day.
This fourth chapter pack in the Westerns cycle offers five new plots that follow the events in the first book in A Song of Ice and Fire–three faction-specific plots, and two neutral.
Lord of the Rings LCG: The Thing in the Depths
Having finally caught the Stormcaller after a harrowing pursuit across troubled seas, several of Middle-earth’s heroes prepare to board the Corsair ship in The Thing in the Depths, the second Adventure Pack in the Dream-chaser cycle for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game. Their efforts to reclaim the Númenorean artifact the Corsairs had stolen erupt into fierce battles that quickly spiral into nightmare when the waters beneath the Stormcaller begin to churn and massive, tentacled arms erupt from the sea to grapple the ship and the sailors aboard it!
This expansion pack for the Lord of the Rings LCG offers sixty new cards, including a new Spirit hero and new allies for each of the four spheres.
Elder Sign: Omens of Ice
Deep in the Alaskan wilderness Ancient Ones are awakening whose diabolical forces cannot be fought within the safe confines of the Arkham Museum. You must brave the Tundra, solve the mysteries of native Inuit traditions, and make the treacherous ascent up the mountains of the Alaska Range. There, wild animals and monsters are far from the only dangers you’ll encounter, for frostbite and starvation are among the Ancient Ones’ deadliest weapons.
In this expansion for the cooperative dice game Elder Sign, players will receive a complete deck of sixty Alaskan Adventure cards and a new deck of Mythos cards. For the first time in this game, the season will matter as much as the time of day. This expansion also offers eight additional adventurers, as well as new allies, items, and spells.
Talisman: The Cataclysm
Decades ago an apocalypse destroyed the world, wrecking its cities, ravaging the land, and devastating the population. Now, after more than a generation, a new age dawns with The Cataclysm, an expansion for Talisman Revised 4th Edition. People are returning to establish settlements, nature is evolving in bizarre, unprecedented ways, and traces of the former civilization can be found everywhere. This is a time of chaos and possibility, of challenges and heroism.
FFG is proud to announce a new expansion for the classic game Talisman, that takes place one generation after a terrible apocalypse has devastated the land. A new center board opens up into an apocalyptic realm for players’ exploration.
Warhammer 40,000: Conquest LCG: What Lurks Below
The planet of Sacaellum is torn asunder by warring factions. The Imperial Guard battle Dark Eldar raiders, Tyranid Genestealers ambush an Ork warband, and the warriors of Khorne battle any who stand in their bloody path. Which faction will you support in its battle for victory?
“What Lurks Below is the fourth pack in the Planetfall cycle, bringing another faction to bear on the fight for Sacaellum. Here, you’ll find cards that support the main themes of the cycle by bringing new significance to the planet type symbols and inviting you to fight for your faction’s unique goals.”

On January 29, 2016, Eagle-Gryphon Games is releasing Vital Lacerda’s classic game of winemaking in a deluxe version, known as Vinhos Special Vintage. This new edition will be bringing new game play and a lot of extras to this very popular and extremely strategic board game. The official press release follows:
Vinhos (Portuguese for ‘wines’) Special Edition is a trading and economic game about wine making. Players are Portuguese wine makers developing their vineyards and producing fine wines to achieve maximum profit.
“Designing a new version of my first game ended up being a very enjoyable and completely different process,” says Vital Lacerda. “After all, I had a game with more than 5 years of play testing by thousands of players around the world. I knew I had to make modifications to the rules and board complexity while at the same time I had to deliver the same deep and complex game players have known.”
This new edition features completely new artwork from Ian O’Toole, an improved set of rules, and an additional, simplified version of the game. To support this second game, Vinhos will feature a double-sided board so both versions – the simplified and the original – can be played. This version also brings new additions: 30 new actions and scoring tiles, a greater number of cellars, wineries and oenologists (wine experts), a new region to play, plus the Advertisers expansion and the Madeira Island expansion. Special vineyards and wineries plus a 5th property round out the Deluxe additions to the game.
Vinhos Special Vintage will be released on Kickstarter January 29th, with a 3rd Quarter delivery date for the US and most of the world. For more information and to support this project, visit its Kickstarter page here.
