Feudal Japan theme

Cryptozoic has announced Crossover Pack 8: Batman Ninja is coming soon to the DC Comics Deck-Building Game. Based on the Batman Ninja animated feature, this expansion takes place in feudal Japan and lets players become Batman, Catwoman, Robin, Red Robin, Red Hood and Nightwing.

What would this expansion be without a cast of Super-Villains? The Joker, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Deathstroke and Two-Face are daimyos who battle from within giant castles that come to life. When the fifth Super-Villain has been defeated, the five castles merge to become one final monumental challenge. The card backs of the Super-Villains each form a portion of the giant merged castle, with The Joker’s head at the top (of course).

“Each Super-Villain has colors on its four sides matching the main card types: Hero, Villain, Super Power and Equipment. During your turn, if there is a card matching one of those types in the Line-Up, you must take the card and place it next to the corresponding side of the Super-Villain. When you defeat a Super-Villain, instead of placing it in your deck, you earn each card attached to it.”

The new keyword “Ninjutsu” provides the Super Heroes some much-needed help as they take on the might of the Super-Villains’ super castle!

In the box:
• 21 Main Deck Cards
• 6 Oversized Super Heroes
• 5 Oversized Super-Villains
• Rules Card
• 1 Randomizer Card and 1 Divider (for Multiverse Box)

Crossover Pack 8: Batman Ninja is 100% compatible with the original DC Comics Deck-Building Game, Heroes Unite, Forever Evil and Teen Titans.

Shadows of Brimstone, a popular cooperative dungeon-crawl series from Flying Frog Productions, has a new standalone expansion available now on Kickstarter. Forbidden Fortress is set in an alternate history Feudal Japan, which is a dynamic change from it’s prominently western predecessors in the series. Demons and devils have emerged from a great cataclysm during the tumultuous time of Japanese history, and players must work together to storm the eponymous fortress in order to quell the evil within. As described on the campaign page:

“For new players, Forbidden Fortress will make a great introduction to the world of Shadows of Brimstone, and for veteran players, it adds a ton of new content, including two brand new Worlds to explore – the Japanese castles and temples of the Forbidden Fortress and a living world inside a massive creature in the Belly of the Beast. It also includes a brand new set of Heroes and Enemies to add to your games.

The Kickstarter is doing exceedingly well, to the point of bursting through stretch goals at an incredible pace – 1342% of their funding goal at the time of writing this article. For fans of the series, this is an excellent way to add new and intriguing adventuring possibilities, and the Kickstarter has a wealth of stretch goals to make the early investment worth the price-tag. Check out the Kickstarter page and the Flying Frog Facebook page for more information and updates as the campaign surges on towards production.
