Cryptozoic has announced Crossover Pack 8: Batman Ninja is coming soon to the DC Comics Deck-Building Game. Based on the Batman Ninja animated feature, this expansion takes place in feudal Japan and lets players become Batman, Catwoman, Robin, Red Robin, Red Hood and Nightwing.
What would this expansion be without a cast of Super-Villains? The Joker, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Deathstroke and Two-Face are daimyos who battle from within giant castles that come to life. When the fifth Super-Villain has been defeated, the five castles merge to become one final monumental challenge. The card backs of the Super-Villains each form a portion of the giant merged castle, with The Joker’s head at the top (of course).
“Each Super-Villain has colors on its four sides matching the main card types: Hero, Villain, Super Power and Equipment. During your turn, if there is a card matching one of those types in the Line-Up, you must take the card and place it next to the corresponding side of the Super-Villain. When you defeat a Super-Villain, instead of placing it in your deck, you earn each card attached to it.”
The new keyword “Ninjutsu” provides the Super Heroes some much-needed help as they take on the might of the Super-Villains’ super castle!
In the box:
• 21 Main Deck Cards
• 6 Oversized Super Heroes
• 5 Oversized Super-Villains
• Rules Card
• 1 Randomizer Card and 1 Divider (for Multiverse Box)
Crossover Pack 8: Batman Ninja is 100% compatible with the original DC Comics Deck-Building Game, Heroes Unite, Forever Evil and Teen Titans.

While the Marvel universe dominates the box office, the DC universe is getting a little bigger with the release of The DC Deck-Building Game: Rivals—Green Lantern vs. Sinestro from Cryptozoic Games.
A new stand alone game using the DC Deck-Building Game mechanics, the latest itteration places players into the never-ending conflict between Hal Jordan and Sinestro. The game will feature two different paths depending on what role the player takes. The Sinestra role is focussed on attacking and forcing opponents to take bad cards. The Green Lantern role will focus on drawing cards and features a strong defense.
The game comes with 98 cards that includes new heroes, villains, equipment, locations, and constructs. It includes six over-sized character cards with variable cards associated with them. Each character in the game will have unique abilities and will become more powerful when defeated, gaining access to additional abilities, until at the end of the game one ring-bearer is finally triumphant.
While a stand alone game, the game is also fully compatible with earlier DC Deck-Building Games games including Rivals—Batman vs. The Joker and the Confrontations set. The game is made for 2 players age 15+ and takes around 30 minutes to play.
DC Deck-Building Game
The DC Deck-Building Game: Rivals—Green Lantern vs. Sinestro from Cryptozoic Games is built on the original DC Deck-Building Game system which was released in 2012 by Cryptozoic Games. In the system each each player chooses a hero with a special power and starts the game with a deck of ten cards. On each turn a player will use the five cards in their hand to acquire or conquer the five types of cards in the game: heroes, villains and super-villains, equipment, super powers, and locations. Players will defend themselves from attacks while attempting to defeat super-villains in an attempt to gain the most victory points.
The Rivals systems was introduced in 2014 with Rivals – Batman vs The Joker as more direct combat was introduced with confrontation rules that allow players to attack their opponents and block cards that ward off confrontations.
In Rivals the first player to drop the opponent three times wins, though if the deck runs out of cards the player with the most victory points wins.
Fighting against the villains in the DC Comics Deck Building Game is pretty much the whole point of the game. Then a couple years ago the Forever Evil set came out and turned the formula upside-down, letting you play the villains to beat up the heroes. Well Cryptozoic decided that with this latest Crossover Pack, the villains could use a little help in order to defeat The Flash.
In Crossover Pack 5: The Rogues, you will get access to the super villains always coming up against The Flash; Captain Cold, Weather Wizard, Heatwave, Mirror Master, Golden Glider, and Trickster. Also in this pack will be the addition of a new teamwork mechanic where the villains can offer each other help, because they can’t defeat The Flash by themselves. This pack also makes use of the VP tokens as a type of currency, because a good villain doesn’t work for free. Look for this pack to hit store shelves this quarter, and once you have it you can mix it with any base set currently available.

Cryptozoic has posted a preview of their newest addition to the DC deck-building game. This addition is called Forever Evil, and the preview features one of the newest characters to appear in the DC universe: Pandora along with her Pandora’s Box.
Pandora is a hero that adds the top card of the main deck to the line-up and receives +1 Power for each different cost among the cards in the line-up.
Would you be surprised to learn that Pandora can generate as much as +9 Power from the cards in this set? That’s some real purchasing power!
Pandora’s box is an equipment card that reveals the top card of the main deck, and then adds cards from the main deck to the line-up equal to the revealed card’s cost. The game is due to be released this week. For more on this click here.
Coming later this year from Cryptozoic Entertainment is a new DC deck-builder for two players, Rivals: Batman vs Joker.
Rivals: Batman vs Joker is a 98 card set based on Cryptozoic’s Cerberus system, which is the same system used in DC Comics Deck-Building Game. Through game play, each player adds cards to their deck, arming themselves. When they feel the time is right, players will attack each other and the first to make their opponent fall three times wins the game. But look out, because as the rivals fall, Batman and Joker get boosts to their abilities.
Rivals: Batman vs Joker is expected to release in December with 98 cards and six oversize “Hero” cards.
