Tasty Minstrel Games would like to announce their current project, Yokohama Deluxe, a new version of Yokohama that includes metal coins and upgraded wooden components.
Yokohama is a game by Hisashi Hayashi in which players take on the role of merchants in the Meiji period, an important era of commerce and international trade in Japan’s history. Players work to gain fame through successful business practices, including building a store, broadening their sales channels, learning a variety of techniques, and responding to trade orders from abroad.
TMG has clearly expressed that they are providing the upgraded components in this deluxe version of Yokohama at cost to backers, and that this will be a limited, one-time opportunity to obtain this deluxe version. For more information and to support this project, visit its Kickstarter page here.
Tasty Minstrel Games would like to announce that their new dice-drafting/stealing game, Thief’s Market, is now on Kickstarter.
Gameplay in Thief’s Market occurs over a series of rounds in which players will split the loot from a “hard day’s work” and then spend it on useful items, finery, and henchmen. These purchased items will grant the ability to manipulate your take further as you go to market. Using the items you purchase, you can take actions such as flipping dice to the desired side, make extra purchases, re-roll dice, gain points, reduce the cost of purchases at the market, and create effects when you purchase certain cards.
A copy of Thief’s Market contains the following:
- 13 Custom Dice
- 41 High Quality Game Cards
- Start Player Marker
- Player Reference Cards
- Coin Tokens
- Infamy Tokens
The project has met multiple stretch goals currently, and aims to add metal coins to the game when a certain pledge level is reached. For more information and to support this project, visit the Kickstarter page here.

Eagle-Gryphon Games is proud to announce Glenn Drover’s Empires: Galactic Rebellion, the sequel to the hit Empires: Age of Discovery, coming to Kickstarter Saturday, December 12.
In the game, players will take on the role of leader one a rebel faction. Players will recruit and train specialists, scientists to help you develop technologies, smugglers to build trade networks, diplomats to sway Senate decisions, Heroes to conduct covert missions, and Troopers to fight your battles across the galaxy.
Empires: Galactic Rebellion contains over 400 highly-detailed miniatures including 8 Capital Ship Fleet sculpts, 100 coins, and more.
“When looking at the idea of a sequel to Age of Discovery, I wanted to create a game that would be familiar to fans of the original game, but was a unique game experience. The theme allowed for a new starting point and suggested many new mechanics that could make the game very different and interesting. The galactic senate, the imperial military (planet-side troops and fleets), covert missions, and lots more conflict (as you would expect in a Space Opera-Galactic Rebellion type game) make for a new experience that’s also tremendous fun,” says Glenn Drover, designer of Empires: Galactic Rebellion.
Watch for the release of the Kickstarter on December 12, 2015.
Over on the German kickstarter type site Spieleschmiede, a campaign is going for Epic coins to help pimp out your board games. These are full metal coins with several different designs and sets that you can contribute for. One set is clearly meant to replace the coins in Lords of Waterdeep but they also have a more generic set with animals on them. While the sets you can pledge for are small with only 5 coins of each type, they have plenty of add-ons so you can customize your set to suit your needs. But keep in mind that since this is in Germany you will have to take into account the extra shipping cost to get it sent to the US (13 euro). Head on over to the campaign page to see more information and to back the project, which is already funded.
Fantasy Coins LLC was behind a very successful campaign last year, having raised around $125k to fund the release of various high-quality coins to help pimp out your games. Well, this year, they have a new campaign to raise $45k and are offering 10 new sets of coin including a set of gems. Here’s a few shots of what they’ll be offering.

As of the writing of this article, the campaign had already raised over half of its goal with 28 days to go. You can check out their campaign on Kickstarter here.
