“Chai” is an immersive game of combining tea flavors to make your perfect blend.
The game is being brought to Kickstarter by a new company Deep Aqua Games.
In “Chai”, step into the shoes of a tea merchant, combining tea flavors to make a perfect blend. Specializing in either rooibos, green, oolong, black or white tea, buy and collect ingredients to fulfill your customer’s orders.
The designers Dan & Connie Kazmaier have created a fantastic community on Facebook, where for more than 6 month everyone had the opportunity to participate in the process of creating the game either by playtesting or providing ideas. Thanks to this strong community the game “Chai” was already funded on Day 1.
The breathtaking game art is from the talented art team: Mary Haasdyk and Sahana VJ. I fell in love with that artwork first time I saw it. According to me, this is one of the most beautiful games ever produced.
The Kickstarter is running from the 4th of December to the 7th of January and will probably unlock couple of stretch goals too. Follow along on Kickstarter or Facebook.

Also coming from AEG is a new Smash Up set titled, Oops You Did It Again.
Smash Up has turned the asylum over to the inmates yet again! After the success of It’s Your Fault, we decided to let the fans choose the factions that would make up the latest set of Smash Up, and they went for some powerful choices! A huge field was whittled down to the top four, and here they are: Cowboys call out opposing minions for shootouts, Samurai face their noble end in battle to bring glory to their player, Ancient Egyptians bury secrets deep in the sands, while the Vikings… well they just take other people’s stuff!
It looks like the fans nailed it this time with some of the best genres from pop culture represented in one expansion box.
Keep an eye out for The Captain is Dead: Lockdown in August and Smash Up: Oops You Did It Again in early September.
Fans of deck-building and dungeon-delving will be delighted to hear that Alderac Entertainment Group will be launching the second Kickstarter for their celebrated game, Thunderstone Quest, on July 17th at 9:00 am PST. Pursuing their goal of transitioning to traditional brick and mortar stores, TQ will also be making its way into retail outlets in the fourth quarter of 2018.
New to this Kickstarter will be:
- Both solo and co-op rules (which will also be available on print-and-play)
- A 6th quest
- An add-on for more than 4 players
- A new (second) storage solution, as the old Champion box, massive as it was, “is effectively full if you sleeve and have Epic”.
Backers can purchase everything offered the first time around. The base game or the Champion level rewards (identical to the 1st Kickstarter) will both be available, or they can back for the new content only. Those who backed the Adventurer level the first time can get an add-on pack, giving them the content from the Champion level. The Champion level will feature the same 5 quests as before and Kickstarter will be the only place that someone can obtain the 2nd quest, Total Eclipse of the Sun. The retail version will not contain this quest.
The solo and co-op rules system will be bundled together with the 6th quest, What Lies Beneath, as a single add-on. Solo and c0-op will both use the same set of cards as the base game. The new solo and co-op rules will also be available in print-and-play, so it will be interesting to see what extras this add-on will have.
Regarding the new solo and co-op system, AEG stated,
The Thunderstone community also strongly communicated that they wanted a Solo & Co-Op experience for the game. Our design team has been working on a game experience that is way beyond just a simple set of rules and represents an entirely new way to experience Thunderstone. We think it is AWESOME!
Delivery for all backer levels is scheduled for “no later than April 2019“.
Timelines for retail releases:
- Core starter set, which, along with basic components, will contain Quest 1, Mirror in the Dark and Quest 3, Rise From the Mire
- Quest 4, At the Foundations of the World
Second Half of 2019:
- Quest 6, What Lies Beneath
Lastly, retailers joining the Kick It Here program can back the Champion Reward and the Solo/Co-op system with Quest 6 and have it before the regular retail release.

Army of Darkness: The Board Game is an upcoming major release from Lynnvander Studios and Dynamite Entertainment covering the cult-classic third film in the Evil Dead trilogy. While not a lot is known about the game yet, prepare for chainsaw and S-Mart jokes for 1-4 players wreaking havoc for an hour to 90 minutes, with an intended age of 10 or older.
Not to be confused with either the 1993 board game called Army of Darkness, nor the 2004 game Army of Darkness Card Game, Army of Darkness: The Board Game (2018) will bring in highly detailed miniatures and all-new boomstick battles against the Deadites! Plus, the Board Game Geek (BGG) page states that players…
“…play as Ash and his allies, and work together to fight off swarms of Deadites commanded by Evil Ash and Evil Shiela.”
BGG also lists the game as dice rolling, co-op, and involving programmed movement, which leads to an exciting combination of game mechanisms that will need some clarification once everything is finalized to have an idea of exactly how it will all come together – but so far, sounds groovy.
Designed by the team of Josh Derksen, Thomas M. Gofton, and Aron Murch who have been published many times by Jasco Games in the past, collectively working on titles such as: Albion’s Legacy, Cyber:Run, and another game handling a beloved intellectual property in Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Board Game.
While no official release date has been announced, more about Army of Darkness: The Board Game can be learned from Nerdist’s article by clicking here.
The award-winning murder mystery board game Mysterium has been released for the iOS platform. The iOS digital version of the game features online multiplayer for up to 7 players and works cross-platform between the iOS, Android, and Steam versions. There is a solitaire and story mode as well.

Fans of the original adventure and survival game Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island will be interested to know what specific changes will be present in Portal’s new release of the game under the Portal banner. According to Portal’s latest news release, the major notable changes will include:
- a “typical” square game box, as opposed to the original’s coffin box
- a fancier 1st Player Token
- an additional 7th Scenario
- Character Sheets on thick cardboard, as opposed to the thin sheets in the original
- shaped wooden resource components, as opposed to the cubes in the original
- redesigned Discovery Tokens with thematic names on them
- character stickers for the wooden player pawns
- a freshly-reworked rulebook (I like how Portal points out that the original “explains nothing” and the new one “explains everything”)
Preorders are currently being accepted, and this new release is scheduled for release in November of 2016. For more information, visit Portal’s new release here.
Cool Mini Or Not would like to announce the release of Waka Tanka, a bluffing card game by Bruno Faidutti. In the game, players take o the role of Native American shamans working to prove their worth to the tribe–and sometimes, that means covering your mistakes and hoping no one will notice. The following excerpt from the official press release sets the stage for the game:
During the Summer Solstice, the Sioux Tribes would send their most promising young wizards to the Great Shaman.
Each young apprentice had to try to become one with nature and ask Waka Tanka to make one of the Totemic animals of their tribe appear.
Those whose spell had no effect would lose their authority forever. That’s why some apprentices began masking their misfortune with any possible trick. But the other apprentices are watching…
More information about the game and its gameplay summary can be seen on BoardGameGeek’s page for this game. Wake Tanka’s street date is May 20th, 2016. For more information about the game and its release, visit Cool Mini Or Not’s website.

It is time to polish your armor and sharpen your sword, for mighty Caesar has called for his legions to assemble. So snap them into line as quickly as you can, disrupt the plans of your fellow commanders and show Caesar that your Legion is the greatest in all the Empire.
In The Cohort, players must race to be the first to assemble a Legion and show Caesar you are the greatest of his commanders. Each Legion is made up of 3 different Cohorts and seven different types of units: Praetorians, Catapults, Centurions, Sagittarii, Equites, Legionaries and Velites. Each turn, players draw two cards, keep one and give the other to another player. This card can be kept in hand, or triggered to create a Cohort. Until a Cohort is complete, however, their rowdy behavior works against the recruiting player.
The Cohort includes the following components:
• 6 Primus Pilus cards
• 18 Praetorian cards
• 18 Centurion cards
• 18 Catapult cards
• 24 Sagittarii cards
• 24 Equites cards
• 30 Legionary cards
• 30 Velites cards

This deluxe expansion focuses on House Stark, as well as additional plots and allies for various factions.

The Great Houses stir restlessly across Westeros, watching and plotting their own bids for power. From the sands of Dorne to the icy forests beyond the Wall, tension grows with every passing day.

Lord of the Rings LCG: The Thing in the Depths

In this expansion for the cooperative dice game Elder Sign, players will receive a complete deck of sixty Alaskan Adventure cards and a new deck of Mythos cards. For the first time in this game, the season will matter as much as the time of day. This expansion also offers eight additional adventurers, as well as new allies, items, and spells.
