Cool Mini Or Not came to show off the prototype for their succesful kickstarter game Blood Rage. Designed by Eric Lang,  this is a game of vikings where 2-4 players compete for the favor of the gods and march to meet the other clans in glorious battle.

Rather Dashing Games was on hand to promote their new release: Pirates, Ninjas, Robots & Zombies. This is a family friendly tactical tile laying game for 2-4 players in which players attempt to create the most valuable section of connected tiles.

Dapper Devil.com, purveyor of accessories for the well dressed game, gave us a first look at the custom box for the upcoming 50th Anniversary edition of Nuclear War. In this classic satirical card game, first published in 1965, 2-6 players attempt to achieve world domination through the strategic use of propaganda and nuclear weapons. The Anniversary edition will be realized in the form of a Kickstarter project – the game’s publisher, Flying Buffalo, Inc., is expected to release more detail in the near future.

Stoneblade Entertainment revealed the newest set for their highly popular deck-building game Ascension. Called ‘Dawn of Champions’, this set will allow players to take on the role of a faction leader, building up their reputation in order to unlock powerful cards and effects. Ascension: Dawn of Champions can be played as a stand alone game or in combination with other Ascension games.

Stoneblade also brought a copy of their newest card game, Bad Beets. Expected to be released this summer, Bad Beets is a family friendly bluffing game for 2-5 players about picky eaters.

Eagle Gryphon Games brought out their upcoming release Clockwork Wars. A game of conquest, discovery and espionage for 2-4 players, Clockwork Wars is set in a world of magic and steam era technology where the human ‘Purebreeds’ and the three hybrid races, ‘Troglodytes, Rhinochs and Mongrels’ are locked in a war for survival and control.

And finally, Eagle Gryphon also brought along ‘Cheesonomics’, a family card game for 2-5 players about manipulating the supply and demand of various types of cheese. This game is based on set collection, memory and hand management mechanics and can be played at three different skill levels to allow players to adjust the game to their own taste.

‘Ascension: Dawn of Champions’ the latest title in the hit Ascension series of games has had it release announced for March.  This edition of the game can be played by itself or as an expansion to other titles within the series.

Like all games as of late the release date for this may be pushed out further due to factors outside of the control of the publisher.  In particular customs delays have been a major issue that has pushed many release dates back quite a bit.

Today, Sony announced that Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer will be coming to PS Vita.

The game is currently in development and Playdek’s Community Manager, Shyla, states:

There’s so much more I want to tell you about Ascension, such as its incredible AI for solo play, the fact that the game will have at least 5 expansions ready to go, and a built-in tournament system to help you play against other across the globe; however I’ll save that for another time.

Earlier this week, Playdek and Stone Blade Entertainment released Rise of the Vigil, an in-app purchase for Ascension.  Now available on the iOS app store, this expansion to the deck-builder introduces a new shard energy mechanic.  This energy allows players to unlock the power of some Heroes, Monsters, and Constructs.  At first, these cards might not seem very powerful but as you unleash them, the energized powers will bring on new challenges.

The in-app expansion Ascension: Rise of Vigil will launch later this summer for iOS, and the game will launch shortly thereafter for the first time on Android. At that time, Android users will also be able to purchase all of the prior expansions for the Android platform.
