Game-O-Gami has announced their second title after their popular title Goblins Drool, Fairies Rule!. This is a game of epic strategy based on the various different pantheons that different cultures including Norse, Japanese, Greek, and Native Americans have had over time.
This title should be launching on Kickstarter early next year. Meant for between 2-4 players and lasting about 60 minutes. Using mechanics like card battle, area control, and variable player powers. This game looks like it should be an interesting title to try to play.
Publishers Press Release below.
Indie development studio Game-O-Gami has announced their upcoming game: Immortal. In this game of mythic strategy, 2 to 4 players summon armies of legendary gods, heroes, and monsters from four different mythological factions, and unleash them upon each other in an epic war for supremacy.
The gameplay thrusts players into back-and-forth battles to capture each other’s forces, involving strategic placement of character cards and harnessing of their special abilities. These battles take place on modular boards which are built up by the players as the game progresses, combining card battle and area control gameplay. Each faction has its own unique strengths and abilities, and is based on the myths and legends of a distinct world culture. The first of many planned master sets for Immortal will feature characters from Norse, Greek, Japanese, and Native American mythologies. The average playing time is 60 minutes.
Immortal has been developed, playtested, and polished over the course of three years under the former working title Legends At War. This is Game-O-Gami’s second game (following Goblins Drool, Fairies Rule!), designed by David Sanhueza, with artwork by popular fantasy concept artists Xia Taptara, Monika Palosz, Kian Ng, Grant Griffard, and David Sanhueza. Immortal is in preparation to launch on Kickstarter in early 2015.
More information about the game, including previews of the artwork and rules, can be found on BoardGameGeek: www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/127829/immortal
ESSEN at Essen…what the whah?!?
Get your head around this if you can. LudiCreations are running a campaign on Kickstarter right now, in which they plan to fund a game about selling games at the Essen trade fair, which will be on sale at the Essen trade fair! We are unsure if this will rip the space-time continuum.
In this euro-style game for 1-4 players, you take on the role of a board game publisher that is exhibiting at the world’s most famous trade fair. Designed by Harry-Pekka Kuusela, it is playable in 30-60 minutes, and can be played with up to 8 players by combining two copies of the game.
“I have put many years of my life into this game and can’t wait for players to get their hands on it. With your support I will be in a booth at Essen selling ESSEN, a game about selling games at Essen!” – Harry-Pekka Kuusela
In ESSEN, which is beautifully illustrated in pixel art and contains a plethora of inside jokes and references for board gamers, you have to make decisions like any publisher has to make – about staffing, managing your money, creating buzz, and much more! Each player board is themed after a certain type of board game publisher (eurogames, ameritrash, wargames, RPGs), with the reverse side showing even more types of games (abstract, children’s games, party games, LARP) for even more variety.
“I love meta—games about games, books about books—so ESSEN appeals to me. The logistics of balancing sales and income, future visitors and current buzz: it’s a bit of a brain-burner, too, but I like this sort of thing. If you like games about games and you’ve been to gaming conventions, this game may really click for you.” – Jonathan Liu from GeekDad
Last year the Spiel game fair had 156,000 visitors & 828 exhibitors from 39 nations. Right now you can back the campaign which allows you to take over a booth and outsell them all to be the best publisher in ESSEN! If you can’t come to Essen, then let ESSEN come to you!
From Mercury Games:
Mercury Games is pleased to officially announce “The Walled City: Londonderry” by designers Daryl Andrews and Stephen Sauer.
“The Walled City: Londonderry” pits rival politicians against one another to become the First Mayor of the city. Founding a medieval walled city is no easy task and you are about to find out just how difficult it can be!
Two rounds with multiple turns are played with a scoring phase after each. Quick play is complimented by tough decisions, and missed opportunities can come back to haunt you. Providing a safe place to live for the peasants will earn you a large reward, but failing to construct the city wall in time will see the loyal knights abandon the city for safe haven.
Each turn consists of playing cards to build roads that form neighborhoods with citizens that have allegiances to one of the players. Nominate watchmen to the towers, rig districts (called gerrymandering) and raise great walls. All these play a part in solidifying your power as you attempt to climb to the top of the political heap.
All the while the Guilds that you align yourself with impart special powers that can upset the plans of your rivals. Move a road to form a new neighborhood where the citizens in your camp are in the majority or remove a wall that protects rival citizens from the ravages of the surrounding area. The Guilds will affect the outcome of who runs the city when all the dust settles.
“The Walled City: Londonderry” is a highly thematic and elegant area control/area influence game for 2-4 players that plays in about 60 minutes. As with all Mercury Games products, players will enjoy the unique mechanics and interesting choices this game has to offer.
