apocalypse chaos

When it comes to new releases, Z-Man Games has gained a somewhat cryptic reputation. Case in point…Apocalypse Chaos!

Designed by Florian Fay, Apocalypse Chaos is a new cooperative game for 1-4 players, banding the group together to defend a beleaguered (crashed?) ship from a threat of some kind.

From the press release:

We are in grave danger. Enemies are swarming around the ship and they will not go down without a fight. We’ll have to work together in order to get out of this one alive. We’re going to need a plan, and we need it fast. Let’s not let these…things…outsmart us, outnumber us, and certainly not outshoot us! I need you all to do what you do best. Got it? Let’s do this!

This may sound like a retread of plenty of other coop alien-fighting experiences, but in fact it could be completely different. Me, I’m hoping there’s a big boulder you can roll from one end of the board to the other, squishing all the aliens caught in its path. Or maybe there will be different objectives for different roles, like in Dead of Winter. With one devious player a secret alien (gasp!)…trust no one!

As GEN-CON 2015 moves closer, more details will certainly emerge. So if this is the type of theme you can’t get enough of, keep an ear to the ground. And your laser guns fully charged. For now, look to the BGG page and the Z-Man Facebook presence.
