Daily Magic Games has launched a Kickstarter campaign for Pharaoh’s Pyramid, an expansion for Sailing Toward Osiris, designed by W. David MacKenzie and illustrated by Denis Martynets. In Pharaoh’s Pyramid, players will work together to construct a pyramid in time for the arrival of the Pharaoh’s funeral barge so that the fallen king may stand before Osiris.
The expansion adds four new distinct mechanisms to gameplay: Debens, a new form of “I.O.U.” payment which players can trade back in for resources; Pyramid Blocks, a major new mechanic in which players first plan a block by paying resources and then build a block by moving it onto a valid space on a pyramid grid; Temple Donations, a one-way transaction for earning Debens; and Palace Guards, which players can use by sending into an occupied city space.
Components in the expansion include a double-sided game board extension (one side for 2-3 players; the other side for 4-5 players), 40 Pyramid Blocks (16mm x 16mm x 12mm; made of wood with screen-printed player icons), 30 Deben Chits (2mm punchboard), 5 Palace Guard Tokens (wood with white screen print on both sides), 10 City Cards, and 5 Boon Cards (cards are 310gsm black-core with a linen finish).
