Pokemon Trading Card Game Celebrates 20 years with a Gold Pikachu

While traditionally the gold anniversary is 50 years, the Pokemon TCG is celebrating it’s gold anniversary a little early.  The Pokemon TCG has been a consistent mainstay of the trading card game scene and while it hasn’t taken off like Magic, sticking around for 20 years is still an accomplishment.  So to celebrate they are reissuing the original Pikachu card from the first set, but this time in solid 24-karat gold.  This beauty weighs in at 11 grams and comes with it’s own display case to show it off, mainly because it is not legal for tournament play, and who wants a card made of money in their deck?  The current asking price is 216,000 yen (about $2,100) and the orders for this card will only be open until the 7th of November.  To read more about this card and to order your own copy, you can check out the translated post on Rocket News 24’s site.
