Disney Villainous: The Worst Takes It All wins “Toy of the Year” at Toy Fair 2019

Ravensburger, who are celebrating their 135th anniversary, have won the “Toy of the Year” award for Disney Villainous: The Worst Takes It All, at the 2019 New York Toy Fair.

“The positive response from Disney fans and strategy board game enthusiasts for the growing Disney Villainous franchise has been overwhelming. In the last quarter of 2018, Ravensburger sold more than a quarter of a million copies globally of Disney Villainous: The Worst Takes It All, and it rose to Top 5 of Amazon’s Most Wished for Board Games. Even before it hit shelves last summer, we knew we had a winner and had already begun working on the next in the franchise, Wicked to the Core.” -Filip Francke, CEO of Ravensburger North America

In Disney Villainous: The Worst Takes It All, players take on the personas of classic, Disney, wicked characters who compete against their evil peers. Players can choose from Maleficent, Ursula, Jafar, Prince John, Queen of Hearts, or Captain Hook. Each of the villains have their own storylines based on events in the Disney films in which they appear including, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Robin Hood, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan. The villains stay in their own story realm but are able to foil other villains by playing Hero cards, which hamper their paths to victory. A standalone expansion, Disney Villains: Wicked to the Core, was also announced and it expands the base game (allowing for 6 players) with 3 more villains, who can also be played on their own without the original game. The villains included in the expansion were voted for by Disney fans.

“To engage the fans in the process, we encouraged people to ‘Vote’ for the Disney Villain they’d like to play. We were thrilled to see that our next trio of bad guys (and gal) – Hades, Dr. Facilier and Evil Queen – made the top 10 list of Disney Villains as voted by our fans.” -Filip Francke, CEO of Ravensburger North America

Disney Villainous: Wicked to the Core will be available from March 3rd, 2019.
