Many Kickstarter projects have been launched recently and quite a few are worth having a good look at even though they’re competing against juggernauts such as Starcadia Quest and Power Rangers: Heroes of the Grid. If there’s anything left of your gaming budget have a look at these projects.
Draconis Invasion: WRATH
This is an expansion to the Draconis Invasion deck-building game, originally released in 2016, which enhances the base game with added player interaction and number of changes to the base game. Draconis Invasion is a competitive, deck-building game, with over 500 cards, which pits 1-6 players against the powers of Draconis who is laying siege to the kingdom along with hordes of of invaders. The expansion adds 300 cards in 12 blind-pack mini-expansions which unlock with every new game to create a progressive story.
The Draconis Invasion: WRATH Kickstarter campaign has pledge levels for backing only the expansion or for getting both the base game and expansion, though this option has limited supply. The campaign is approaching 200% of its funding goal and ends on Monday, October 1st, 2018. The estimated delivery date is June 2019.
Machina Arcana ~ From Beyond
Machina Arcana is a cooperative, steampunk horror game for 1-4 players who take on the roles of explorers in dreadful halls. Players who survive the horrors within still face a mini game at the end of each scenario. There are over 250 stories and incidents and the game is designed to deliver a strong, storytelling and role-playing experience without the need for a Dungeon Master. It’s a refreshing theme in that it doesn’t jump on the existing horror bandwagon and offers an interesting world to explore.
There are currently two backer options for the Machina Arcana ~ From Beyond Kickstarter campaign. The first allows you to back only the base game while the Premium Edition adds Kickstarter stretch goals. The campaign ends on Friday, September 28th, 2018 and it’s already reached over 200% of its funding goal. The estimated delivery date is July 2019.
Dale of Merchants Collection
The Dale of Merchants Collection is a stand-alone deck-building game for 2-4 players, as well as a storage solution for the prior releases of Dale of Merchants and Dale of Merchants 2. Dale of Merchants is a competitive card game series featuring colorful animal folks who are aspiring merchants participating in trading competitions. There are also asynchronous player powers in the form of character cards. This new collection adds 8 new animal folk decks and game play element in the form of trap cards.
The Dale of Merchants Collection Kickstarter campaign allows you to back an option with the complete series of games as well as only the Dale of Merchants Collection by itself. The campaign ends on Thursday, October 4th, 2018, and has already surpassed its funding goal. The project’s estimated delivery date is May 2019.
Summoner’s Isle is a light, portable, area control game, designed to fit into a small box and have minimal setup time. It allows for 2-4 players who are summoners that battle each other using creatures and dominating territory to attain energy. What’s really refreshing about this project is that it’s not a table hog and makes use of tokens to represent units to help keep the game small, without sacrificing a beautiful table presence, by utilizing great graphic design.
A special, Collector’s edition has already been sold out but you can still back the base game on the Summoner’s Isle Kickstarter campaign page. The campaign ends on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2018 and has reached 75% of its funding goal. Its estimated delivery date is January 2019.
Microbrew is a 2-player puzzle/worker placement game which fits into a package the size of an Altoids peppermint tin. Players lead a team of artistan brewers trying to win customers with the best beer. The game supports up to 4 players if you combine two copies of the game. Microbrew won 2 of the 5 categories in the Boardgame Geek 2017 Mint Tin Design contest. Through great graphic design and utilizing simple components the designer was able to pack a lot of game in this little tin.
The Microbrew Kickstarter campaign will run until Monday, October 1st, 2018 and has already exceeded 200% of its funding goal. Estimated delivery date for the project is March 2019.
Baa’beel: Welcome to the Neighbourhood
Baa’beel: Welcome to the Neighbourhood is a competitive card game for 2 players where they build a fantasy city, then control the areas and population within them. Players compete by building the best buildings in the most sought-after areas then move their inhabitants in there to gain control of the area. The rules are simple, and the game looks pretty nice on the table with some great artwork.
The Baa’beel: Welcome to the Neighbourhood Kickstarter project has already gone beyond its funding goal and will end on Wednesday, September 26th, 2018. The project is expected to deliver in January 2019.
