Combat Arena, Stormvault, and Dreadfane from Games Workshop

Games Workshop revealed a number of new tabletop games at the 2019 New York Toy Fair.

Combat Arena is a miniatures combat game which features quick bouts of tactical action set on an Imperial vessel. Players pick a hero, represented by a brand-new Games Workshop model, then test their mettle against each other with their heroes’ distinct fighting styles and abilities. Champions such as the Crusader, Primaris Psyker, and Rogue Trader are only a few of the available heroes to choose from. The game also serves as a prequel to the Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress board game.

In StormVault, 2-5 players embark on cooperative adventures in the Mortal Realms. Players select from distinct, fantasy heroes who possess unique abilities. There are hidden treasures to find and monsters in need of slaying. StormVault features optional difficulty levels and random events.

Warhammer Underworlds: Dreadfane is designed to introduce beginners to the competitive, miniatures game, Warhammer Underworlds. It’s a streamlined version of the game and features hazards such as falling meteors, beams of magical energy, and other events which disrupt the combat actions. Both included warbands will initially be exclusive to the set, but they will be available separately in the future.

Bitten by a common house spider, Antoine emerged with the uncanny ability to buy more games than he had time to play. While living in the hills of Tennessee, USA, he tries to balance software development, family, and his multiple, competing hobbies. He hopes to someday discover a pocket dimension in which to store his games.
