AUSTIN, Texas (April 23, 2014) – Rev those engines and load up the rocket launchers – Car Wars is coming back, with old hand Scott Haring in the driver’s seat. Haring, the former editor or Autoduel Quarterly magazine, the developer of Deluxe Car Wars, and the author and editor of many more titles released in the game’s heyday, will serve as Car Wars Line Editor for publisher Steve Jackson Games.
When SJ Games launched the amazing Ogre Designer’s Edition campaign on Kickstarter, one of the stretch goals was a promise to produce a Kickstarter-backed edition of Car Wars. As line editor, Haring will be working with the Kickstarter contributors in moving Car Wars into the 21st century of game design and the 22nd century of game worlds.
“I’m thrilled to be back,” Haring said. “Car Wars was the game that got me started in the industry, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and all, so being part of the relaunch of this tabletop classic will be exciting beyond belief.”
“This has been in the works for quite a while,” said Phil Reed, Chief Operating Officer. “Steve and I knew we’d need a dedicated Car Warsperson if we were going to do the game justice, and we wanted someone we knew could handle it. Scott was the right choice.”
The first step will be a re-release of Car Wars 4th Edition and the Mini Car Wars starter pack while Haring begins working with the dedicated autoduelling fans from Kickstarter nation to bring the Car Wars experience back to prominence. Drive Offensively!
About Steve Jackson Games
Steve Jackson Games, based in Austin, Texas, has been publishing games, game books, and magazines since 1980. Its best-selling game is Munchkin, with well over 5 million copies of the games and supplements in print worldwide. Other top sellers are GURPS (the Generic Universal RolePlaying System), Zombie Dice, and Illuminati. Past hits have included Car Wars and Toon. Steve’s very first game, Ogre, originally released in 1977, drew almost a million dollars’ worth of Kickstarter support in 2012 for a super-deluxe edition, which was released in late 2013.
Steve Jackson Games announced that the Munchkin line will get a royal make-over in August with Munchkin Princesses. Designed by Andrew Hackard (Munchkin Pathfinder & Munchkin Apocalypse: Mars Attacks!), this 15-card booster pack has cards for every Munchkin fan: new monsters (“Prince Charmless” and “The Eighth Dwarf”), new Treasures (“Glass Sneakers” and the “Genetically Modified Apple”) and, of course, the “Princess” card itself. Forsaken Lore is an expansion for last year’s Elritch Horror, a cooperative, adventure game of Cthulhu terror. Designers Corey Konieczka and Nikki Valens take players back into slithering peril with serpents and Yig, the Father of Serpents.
The fate of the world grows even more uncertain as the malignant influence of Yig, the Father of Serpents, extends across the globe. Previously defeated Ancient Ones attempt to reclaim the world once again, forcing Investigators to solve new mysteries to keep them at bay. All the while, terrible new Epic Monsters and dangerous new Encounters keep Investigators racing across the globe to stave off the collapse of the world.
Forsaken Lore adds over two hundred new cards to Eldritch Horror, including over one hundred new Encounter cards, twenty-four condition cards, and fourteen new mysteries.

Command a furious fighting force of the future in this fast-paced, head-to-head game! Introduce new players with Ars Victor’s easy-to-learn rules, and enjoy a game with strategy deep enough to satisfy even veteran wargamers and all within an hour play time!
To win, you must reduce your enemy’s Glory to zero before they do the same to you. Your successes on the battlefield chip away at your enemy’s Glory. It never goes up, only down; so it’s always a tense, back-and-forth race to the bottom.
Your turn is simple: play a Command Card to activate one or more of your units. Move them across the battlefield, and try to slaughter the enemy. In the process, try to hold on to the three Capture Points in the middle of the board, and keep your Headquarters alive.
Combat is resolved in a single roll of multiple colored dice. Dice quantity and color can be affected by terrain, as well as unit Special Abilities. Simple icons on the dice show the results.
This Limited Edition game includes the first expansion: doubling the number of units, and adding an entirely new faction!
The Ars Victor Limited Edition contains over 3 pounds of components that you can use to crush your enemies:
- 9 double-sided full-color mounted Map Tiles
- 60 double-sided 1.5” Unit counters from the Empire of Man

- 6 hexagonal Capture Points
- Two decks of 24 red and blue Command Cards
- 12 red, white, and blue custom-molded Combat Dice
